My golden doodle just turned 11 months!! So close to the year mark. With warmer weather finally in sight, I decided I would attempt to groom my dog. I had no idea what I was in for!
Despite the daily brushing and combing of Baxter’s coat, the Clippers were nearly impossible to use the first pass through. I distracted him with a Kong filled with peanut butter, which he happily took. I used my foot to keep the Kong for moving around, in turn also keeping puppy still.
I used a mild detangler, brushed and combed his hair just like I had the day before. The Clippers passed through a little easier, causing less discomfort to Baxter. After about 20 minutes of clipping, the batteries in the Clippers died. Rookie mistake! Made for a nice break for both Baxter and myself. An hour later we were both back on task. Baxter cooperated pretty well, I was able to use the Clippers on his face. He did not like me using the Clippers on his belly. So I decided to use the scissors. This cause less stress to Baxter, he was able to hold still easier. This made my job a little bit easier. 2 hours into the haircut, we were both done. The picture of the beginning of this entry was the end result. I’m thinking the next time he’s up for a trim I’m going to leave it to the experts! It was a great experience, and now I do not mind paying for it one bit!
